About Projectnet | |
Projectnet (in Finnish Hankehaavi) is a searchable database of both ongoing and completed research projects, covering the administrative sector of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Finland. Projectnet is a search tool only and does not manipulate the content provided by the data producers. At the time of launching (December 2010) Projectnet contains approximately 4360 project descriptions. By using Projectnet anyone who is interested in publicly funded research on a certain subject will be able to find project descriptions faster than by visiting each data producer's website and/or the databases individually. Currently, Projectnet covers the data provided by the Finnish Food Safety Authority (Evira), the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute (FGI), the National Resources Institute Finland (Luke), the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE) and from the University of Helsinki (HY) faculties at Viikki Campus (Faculties of Agriculture and Forestry, Veterinary Medicine, Biosciences and Pharmacy), Ruralia institute and Viikki Campus Library. The National Resources Institute Finland (Luke) is a new organisation which started in January 2015 and it covers the former operations of the Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla), MTT Agrifood Research Finland and of the Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute (RKTL). These three organisation acronyms (Metla, MTT, RKTL) will be used instead of the acronym Luke in Projectnet during the transition phase until the new research information system of the Luke will be ready to produce data for the Projectnet. Projectnet is a result of goal-directed and sustained cooperation for improving the dissemination of research information. It has its roots in the European bid for the development of current research information systems (euroCRIS). It has been produced by the Ministry on Agriculture and Forestry in cooperation with the Viikki Campus Library and the representatives of the research organisations who provide the data. The Projectnet application has been designed and programmed by MI Tietorakenteet Oy (MI Information Structures Ltd), www.mitietorakenteet.fi |
